Canada History Society Announces the True North History Book Prize

Celebrating Excellence in Canadian National History Writing

The Canada History Society is proud to announce the launch of the True North History Book Prize, an annual award recognizing the best book published on the theme of Canadian National History. This prestigious prize will be awarded each year on July 1, celebrating outstanding contributions to the understanding of Canada’s past.

The True North History Book Prize seeks to honour authors whose work deepens our appreciation of Canada’s rich historical heritage and engages readers with compelling narratives and insightful research.

Nomination Process

Authors, publishers, and members of the public are invited to submit nominations for the True North History Book Prize. Each nomination must include:

  • A 100-word summary outlining the book’s theme and contents.
  • A copy of the Book
  • Contact details for the author and/or publisher.

Nominations should be sent via email to (info@canadahistorysociety.ca) with the subject line “True North Book Prize”. The deadline for submissions is April 15 of the award year.

The winning book will be selected by a panel of esteemed historians and experts in Canadian history and will be announced on Canada Day, July 1.
